Much

There's a bloomin' great 'ole in the garden. 'Er went down there this morning and found it, 'alfway down the slope and next to a buddlieairer or whatever they call it. Sometimes they call it the butterfly bush and I call it the thing with purple spiky bits. Smells nice.

Now, what we want to know is, 'oo put the 'ole there? 'Oles don't dig themselves. Now, Stephen were 'ere yesterday and 'e might have dug it for planting summat, but it's too near the budlly thing to plant anything sizeable, and by gum, it's a sizeable 'ole. Mr Tony and 'er were out all day, so they don't know 'ow it got there, and I... well I might have just nodded off for a minute or two, I'm not as young as I were. Woke up, and there's this 'ole. Great big 'ole, a chap could fall down there. Deep, too, and dry underneath. 'Ave we got a badger?

We have some impressive holes nearby that we nicknamed the Carnivorous Holes because they like to grab people and trip them. As for the identity of the digger... fox maybe? Or neighborhood kid? But if it's a badger, keep us posted!

Fox,, possible, but it doesn't smell of fox, or any other animal smell. I suspect a hobbit. Stephen is convinced that it shouldn't be there and we should head for the hills.

Perhaps whatever dug your Carnivorous Holes has emigrated?

A badger! We haven't anything quite so exciting over here...although, once an armadillo burrowed through our garden...

Maybe there's a very late white rabbit waiting at the end of your hole?

Either way, take heart Much, O Guardian of the Garden!

(Have a wonderful day, Mrs. McAllister!)

An armadillo! Oh, that's amazing! We think it may well be a badger. Whatever it is, it likes jam sandwiches. I need to get the local Wildlife Trust to look at it.

I do like the White Rabbit idea. Or any colour of rabbit would be nice. We don't have a vegetable garden, but it could eat the dandelions.
